What We Do    
  • Provide timely updates to health care professionals on treatment and care issues for HIV-infected clients.
  • Provide information about state HIV programs and resources.
  • Serve as a resource for Wyoming's health professions schools.
  • Provide individualized clinical education experiences.

WyAETC Offerings    

The WyAETC is funded to provide HIV/AIDS education to health care providers in Wyoming. Education and training is provided in a variety of modalities to best suit your needs. The WyAETC can provide:

   
  • In-depth needs assessments to determine training needs
   
  • In-person didactic and workshop presentations (continuing education credits available)
    • Brief, "lunch-hour" or evening presentations to clinic faculty/staff
    • Topic-specific presentations (occupational exposure, testing and counseling, case identification, etc.)

Faculty and Consultants    

Faculty

Anna Kinder, M.S.OTR/L- Program Director for Wyoming AETC
Anna Kinder has received her Bachelor Degree from the University of North Dakota and her Masters Degree from Colorado State University in Occupational Therapy. Her focus in her education and work experiences has included adult learning and education. An opportunity presented itself to be the coordinator of the Wyoming AETC and she has further developed it through its struggles and celebrations resulting in becoming the Program Director. Her focus is to making counseling and testing of HIV more available and has numerous projects in the works.

Consultants
Dr. Mark Dowell, M.D., F.A.C.P.- Rocky Mountain Infectious Diseases, Casper
Dr. Mark Dowell has extensive knowledge in the treatment and the research of infectious diseases and is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. He has a very active private practice and rounds daily at Wyoming Medical Center. He also currently travels to Gillette, Riverton and Rock Springs and provides care. He serves as the Director of Infection Control and Hyperbaric Medicine at Wyoming Medical Center. He serves on State committees for AIDS, hepatitis C, and bioterrorism management while serving as the Natrona County Health Officer since 1998. Dr. Dowell is also a contractual provider for the Ryan White Title III Early Intervention Services Program in Casper and Riverton. He serves as the medical consultant for the Wyoming AETC which involves email consultation services and routine meetings with the Program Director for needs assessment and education planning.

Dr. Christie Graham, Pharm.D.-University of Wyoming/Wyoming Medical Center, Casper
Christie Graham is a clinical pharmacist with a specialty in infectious diseases. She is currently employed by the University of Wyoming as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the School of Pharmacy, and has a practice site at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. Dr. Graham received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of New Mexico in 2002, and went on to complete an infectious disease specialty pharmacy residency. Before relocating to Wyoming, she worked part-time in an HIV clinic in Albuquerque, NM where she constructed tailored HAART regimens for patients at high-risk for nonadherence. She currently teaches HIV/AIDS therapeutics at the School of Pharmacy and occasionally collaborates with Dr. Mark Dowell in the treatment of his HIV patients. She also serves as a consultant for the Wyoming AETC.

Dr. Whitney Buckley, Pharm.D.-Hoy's Drug, Cheyenne
Whitney Buckley, Pharm.D., graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with a Medical Specialty in 2000 and a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2004. She completed a residency in Pharmacy Practice with emphasis in primary care at the Community Health Center of Central Wyoming in 2005. Her area of expertise in the treatment of HIV is related to medication management and drug information.

Stacy Smith, RDH-Community Health Center Dental Clinic, Casper
Stacy Smith has received her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Sheridan College and is currently finishing a Bachelor's Degree through the University of Wyoming. Stacy is employed by the Dental Clinic under the Community Health Center of Central Wyoming. She is promoting and working with patients with HIV on oral hygiene, diet and overall healthy lifestyles. She has been trained in HIV counseling and testing and now counsels and test patients in the dental clinic setting. Stacy will be assisting with the development and facilitating the Level III Training project in the dental setting in Casper.
